We like to learn a little about the history of our new locations, so it was interesting to learn a little about “Lord” Phillip Darrell Duppa who is credited with naming the cities of Phoenix and Tempe. He called it Tempe because the landscape near the Salt River and the buttes reminded him of the Vale of Tempe in ancient Greece.
